PROTECTING SYSTEM FOR SURGE

PURPOSE: A surge arrester is provided to analyze a surge type and a surge input time at each channel to perform a surge measure accurately. CONSTITUTION: A surge arrester protects a signal system comprised of a plurality of signal lines(12). The surge arrester includes a surge current sensor(4), a surge voltage sensor(5), and a controller(1). The surge current sensors sense the surge current of the surge inputted to the signal line of the channel. The surge voltage sensors senses the surge voltage of the surge inputted to the signal line of the channel. The controller counts the number of the surge voltage inputs sensed by the surge voltage sensors and the number of the surge current inputs sensed by the surge voltage sensors. The controller detects the input time of the counted surges.
