PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device capable of preventing the display defect due to misalignment between the tops of post spacers and a substrate, and to provide an electronic device equipped therewith.

SOLUTION: There is provided the liquid crystal device which: is formed with a black matrix 14 composed of a light shielding material on a first substrate 16 or a second substrate 1; is disposed with a plurality of the post spacers 17 for holding the spacing between the first substrate 16 and the second substrate 1 in a region overlapping in a plan view on the black matrix 14 on the surface on the liquid crystal layer 13 side of the first substrate 16; includes a region facing each pole spacer on the surface on the liquid crystal layer 13 side of the second substrate 1; is disposed respectively with fitting parts 18 housing the tops 17a of the post spacers 17; and is shorter in the dimension of the fitting parts 18 in the width direction of the black matrix 14 than the dimension of the fitting parts 18 in the extension direction of the black matrix 14.
