PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly sensitive immunochromatography method where noise by a label object existing in the background is reduced. SOLUTION: The immunochromatography method comprises developing a test material and a labeling material modified with a first binding material to the test material or a labeling material modified with compound having a similar part of the test material on a first insoluble carrier in a state where they are mixed, capturing the test material and the labeling material in a reaction part on the first insoluble carrier having a material having the binding property to a second binding material to the test material or the first binding material to the test material, and detecting the test material. In the immunochromatography method, the test material is developed, then cleaning fluid is developed so that the angle between the developing direction of the test material and the developing direction of the cleaning fluid is 45° to 170°, cleaning is performed, and the test material is detected.
