摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an acoustic wave resonator capable of suppressing spurious based on a higher-order traverse mode, in the acoustic wave resonator which weights an intersection width of electrode fingers of an IDT electrode provided on a piezoelectric substrate, and an acoustic wave device employing the acoustic wave resonator. SOLUTION: In an acoustic wave resonator, an intersection width of electrode fingers in an IDT electrode provided on a piezoelectric substrate is weighted and on an envelope formed by connecting distal ends of electrode finger groups connected to a bus bar, there are alternately arrayed at least three maximal parts wherein the distance from the bus bar becomes maximal, and at least two minimal parts wherein the distance becomes minimal. Each of the electrode finger groups constituting the envelope passing through the neighboring maximal part and minimal part includes electrode fingers having an upper limit intersection width with which a predetermined n-th order traverse mode ((n) is a predetermined odd number of≥3) does not occur. The envelope passing through the distal end portion of the electrode finger having the upper limit intersection width is a straight line or the like having a tilting angle within a range of≥10°and≤65°, with respect to an acoustic wave propagation direction.
