PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a smart camera for achieving efficient data transfer with the high degree of freedom through a network in variously controlling a robot, and to provide a robot vision system equipped with the smart camera. SOLUTION: A smart camera includes a first command interface CIF1(CIF1) and a second command interface CIF2(CIF2). In an image processing process DP, image processing is applied to image pickup data DT1 based on a command to be input from the CIF1, and result data DT3 configured of information beneficial for the control of a robot are generated, stored in a result data buffer DB3, and output to the CIF1. Meanwhile, either the image pickup data DT1 or the processed image data DT2 are selected as monitor image databased on a command to be input from the CIF2 by an image selector SW, and output from the CIF2.
