[Also in Group XXXIV] A face-plate mounting comprises a single-row ball-bearing 5, Fig. 2, having wire races mounted in supporting members 2, 4 and 10. The member 2 is bolted to a machine-stand 6, and the member 4 is secured to the underside of the faceplate 1, the member 10 being screwed on to the member 4 whereby the setting and adjustment of the bearing may be effected from the exterior of the bearing. In a modification, two rows of balls 51, Fig. 3, are disposed between a member 4, secured to the face-plate 1, and members 2, 3, 10, secured to the stand 6. In a further modification, multiple-row ball-bearings 5, Fig. 1, are located between a member 4, secured to the face-plate 1, and members 2, 3, secured to the stand 6, the members 2, 3 being secured together by screw-threads 14 locked by a member 15. The points of contact between the balls and wires are disposed on a rolling-cone whose vertex is situated on the axis of the mounting. |
