Provided are an image display device which improves efficiency of comparing a plurality of images, and an imaging device. A digital camera (200) is provided with a liquid crystal monitor (16), a body microcomputer (12), and an image display control unit (15). The body microcomputer (12) comprises a display management unit (12a) and a selection unit (12b). The liquid crystal monitor (16) comprises a first display area (16a) and a second display area (16b) in which images recorded on a recording medium are displayed. The display management unit (12a) manages as display subjects at least one images which are not displayed yet on the liquid crystal monitor (16) during a predetermined mode out of the plurality of images recorded on the recording medium. A selection unit (12b) selects as a selected image an image to be displayed on the liquid crystal monitor (16) out of the display subjects. The image display control unit (15) allows the selected images to be displayed in the first display area (16a) or the second display area (16b).
