<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve yield of a multilayer optical disk and to provide an optical disk device compatible with the multilayer optical disk to perform recording and reproduction efficiently and safely. <P>SOLUTION: Even if a manufactured multilayer optical disk includes a defective recording and reproducing layer, quality information for determining availability of each layer of the manufactured disk is added. An apparatus compatible with the optical disk reads the quality information of each layer from the multilayer optical disk after the disk is loaded, and prevents adjustment operation for optical pickup control and recording operation for the defective layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
