BOARD-TO-BOARD ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR ASSEMBLY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel and improved board-to-board electrical connector assembly for connecting two circuit boards.

SOLUTION: The board-to-board electrical connector assembly connects the two circuit boards. The assembly includes a first connector having a low profile insulating housing including a mating face and a mounting face for mounting the connector on a first circuit board. A plurality of spaced mating posts project from the mating face of the housing. A second connector 14 has a low profile insulating housing 30 including a mating face 30a for mating with the mating face of the first connector and mounting faces 34a, 36a for mounting on a second circuit board. The insulating housing 30 of the second connector 14 includes a plurality of mating passages 56 in the mating face thereof for receiving the mating posts of the first connector. The passages extend from the mating face 30a all the way to and through the mounting face of the insulating housing of the second connector.
