PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a failure due to intrusion of insect pests into an electrical equipment box of an outdoor unit. SOLUTION: The outdoor unit for an air conditioner is equipped with an electrical equipment box partitioned into a heat exchange chamber having a fan and a heat exchanger in a casing, and a machine chamber having a compressor by a partition plate, taking in cooling air from a machine chamber side, and exhausting the cooling air having circulated through an interior to a heat exchange chamber side. A control board 17 is attached, with an appropriate gap A, to a bottom face of the electrical equipment box 18, a hole 24 such as a cooling air inlet port 21 is provided in the bottom face of the electrical equipment box 18, and a rib 26 reducing a gap C is provided on the bottom face 23 of the electrical equipment box 18 opposite the control board 17 in between a high voltage conducting portion 25 and the hole 24 provided on a control board bottom face 23.
