PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit barrier driving without being affected by the locus of a cam groove. SOLUTION: This lens barrel has a first barrel (1) which can be moved relatively to a second barrel (3) by the rotation of the second barrel, and a barrier drive means (5) which can open and close the barrier on an object side in relation to the first barrel. The first barrel (1) is relatively moved in the optical axis direction by engagement with an engagement means (3a) provided to the second barrel (3). The barrier (2) is opened and closed by the shift from a non-interlocking state to an interlocking state of a first interlocking means (5a) provided to the barrier drive means (5) and of a second interlocking means (3c) provided to a cam barrier (3). In at least some of the cases of the interlocking states of the first interlocking means (5a) and the second interlocking means (3c), the first interlocking means (5a) and the engagement means (3a) are overlapped in the radial direction of the cam barrel (3).
