PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a 2-cyclohexyl-1,3-dioxane compound having a 1,3-dioxane skeleton which has a new structure and is useful in a liquid crystal display field. SOLUTION: The compound is a 2-cyclohexyl-1,3-dioxane compound represented by following general formula (I), wherein R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>each represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a cyano group, a carboxy group, an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, an alkynyl group, an aryl group, an alkoxycarbonyl group, a carbamoyl group, an alkoxy group or an aryloxy group, A represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a cyano group, an alkyl group, an alkenyl group or an alkynyl group, and X represents a halogen atom, an acyloxy group, a sulfonyloxy group, an alkoxy group, an alkylthio group, an arylthio group or an aryloxy group.
