The device has buckle belts guided via a buckle strap connected with an awning and a tensioning rope. The rope is guided around a transverse convertible roof bow at a bottom. The awning is lifted during a standstill condition of the vehicle by an air hose arranged between the roof bow and the awning in the vehicle longitudinal direction. The buckle belts are so long such that the specific distance of the awning to the transverse convertible roof bow is produced. The tensioning rope is tensioned in a vehicle longitudinal direction horizontal to tightening of the buckle belts.
