<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crystalline carbapenem compound and a process for producing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a crystalline carbapenem compound and a process for producing the same. The crystalline carbapenem compound of the present invention is crystalline (4R, 5S, 6S)-3-[[(3S, 5S)-5-[(dimethylamino)carbonyl]-3-pyrrolidinyl]thio]-6-[(1R)-1-hydroxyethyl]-4-methyl-7-oxo-1-azabicyclo[3.2.0]hepto-2-ene-2-carboxylic acid, and is characterized by a specified powder X-ray diffraction pattern. The crystalline carbapenem compound of the present invention has a new crystalline form, and is effective as an antibiotic. In addition, the crystalline carbapenem compound is more stable than carbapenem mixtures in an amorphous form.
