PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator for an alkaline storage battery, which has an excellent impregnation property for a potassium hydroxide aqueous solution-based electrolytic solution and which does not lose an ammonia capturing function even if the separator is stored for a long period or is exposed for a short time to a comparatively high temperature, to provide a manufacturing method thereof, and to provide the alkaline storage battery.

SOLUTION: The separator includes a sulfonated polyolefin-based nonwoven fabric and an aromatic sulfonate-based anionic surfactant applied to the above polyolefin-based nonwoven fabric.
