PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reading device having a deep field depth. SOLUTION: The reading device includes line sensors in two rows, a first cell having an optical system for focusing an object image on imaging elements of the line sensors in one row, and a second cell for focusing an object image on imaging elements of the line sensors in the other row. Part of the first optical elements on the object side in the optical system of the first cell and part of the first optical elements on the object side in the optical system of the second cell located in the main scanning direction are arranged to overlap with each other in the sub scanning direction.
