<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which has desired transfer power while saving its cost and improving its operability. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has a body (2) having an opening (17) formed in it; an imaging unit (16) built in the body, removable through the opening and to form images on the image carrier; a cover (20) supported free to turn on the body and to cover the opening; a sheet container (22) supported free to turn under the opening in the body and having up-and-down plates (44, 54) to stack sheets in the thickness direction; a supply roller (24) pressing the up-and-down plates to transfer the sheet into the body; and sheet supply units (18) each having a case (70) supporting the supply roller in a manner free to turn.
