PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video display system and a method for double-buffering image data for displaying it on a television display screen. SOLUTION: The method includes receiving first image data at a controller, generating a color lookup table based on the first image data, transmitting the color lookup table from the controller to the video display unit, transmitting the first image data from the controller to the video display unit, receiving second image data at the controller, comparing the second image data with the first image data, generating third image data representing differences between the first image data and the second image data, and transmitting the third image data from the controller to the video display unit.
