PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a stable idle state of an engine and to suppress deterioration of exhaust gas emission. SOLUTION: This engine control device applies water temperature Tw, oil dilution Cd and an alcohol concentration Ca to an idle stop control map, and determines whether or not idling is forcedly completed. In the idle stop control map, the lateral axis indicates the water temperature Tw of cooling water, the longitudinal axis indicates the oil dilution Cd, and line segments indicating threshold values are drawn within the lateral axis and longitudinal axis. The line segments are drawn to have rightwardly downward inclination so that even at the same oil dilution Cd, the engine easily enters into an idle stop forcing region as the water temperature Tw increases. As for the threshold value, the line segments having inclination different depending on the alcohol concentration Ca in fuel are prepared. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
