It is possible to provide a highly accurate digital protection relay device having sophisticated functions by enabling a large-capacity transmission of system electric amount data and a data transmission device for the digital protection relay device. The data transmission dev ice for the digital protection relay device includes: an analog/digital conversion unit (6) which samples the system electric amount acquired from a power system as a fundamental frequency f0 multiplied by m (m > 12) and then converts the sampled amount into n-bit (n > 12) digital data; a data processing unit (7) which converts the n-bit m-sampling data of frequency m f0 obtained by the analog/digital conversion unit into k-sampling data of a lower frequency k f0 (k = m); and transmission means (8) which transmits the k-sampling data obtained by the data processing unit in a predetermined format to a digital protection relay device of a partner side.
