Disclosed is a film for optical use, wherein interference fringes are not highly visible, while high surface hardness and high through-film resolution are maintained. Specifically disclosed is a film (1) for optical use, which comprises a transparent base layer (12). An underlying layer (14) is arranged on at least one surface of the transparent base layer (12). A transparent hard coat layer (16) is arranged on the underlying layer (14). An antireflection layer (18) is arranged on the transparent hard coat layer (16). The antireflection layer (18) has a lower refractive index than the transparent hard coat layer (16). When the refractive indexes of the transparent base layer (12), the underlying layer (14), the transparent hard coat layer (16) and the antireflection layer (18) are respectively represented by n0, n1, n2 and n3, the film (1) is designed so that it satisfies the following relations: n3 < n2 = n1 = n0 and (n0 - n3) = 0.5.
