<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To closely arrange a capacitor, a drive circuit and a switching element. <P>SOLUTION: A power conversion apparatus includes the switching element (140) configured to perform high-temperature operation, the drive circuit (160) for driving the switching element (140) and the capacitor (170) for supplying power to the drive circuit (160). The power conversion apparatus converts AC power supplied from an AC power supply or DC power supplied from a DC power supply into AC power or DC power of a predetermined voltage and a predetermined frequency.
