<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of being capable of suppressing the occurrence of a localized extraordinarily high temperature spot (hot spot) in catalyst layers and obtaining high acrylic acid yield stably over a long term in production of acrolein or acrolein-containing gas by catalytic gas-phase oxidation in the presence of molecular oxygen or a molecular oxygen-containing gas. <P>SOLUTION: The method is characterized in that an oxide catalyst containing molybdenum and vanadium as an essential component and having a relative standard deviation of catalyst particle size in the range of 0.02 to 0.20 is used therein. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
