PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable damping force damper that can supply a large magnetic field generated by a small current to an MR fluid and that is easy to assemble and excellent in reliability. SOLUTION: A piston 16 used for the variable damping force damper 10 has a cylindrical shape, into which a piston rod 13 is fitted and which has a center hole 25 communicated with a passage, and a piston core 21, on the outside circumference of which a coil 31 is wound. The piston core 21 fixes a feeder line 28 routed from the coil 31 to a passage 27 formed in the piston rod 13 through the center hole 25 and comprises a resin sealing portion 26, which seals the center hole 25. An O-ring 29, a seal ring, is arranged inside the center hole 25 so as to be pinched by the tip end of the piston rod 13 and the end of the resin sealing portion 26. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
