PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a protein-derived gel-like solid. SOLUTION: The method for producing the protein-derived gel-like solid comprises a step of carrying out a pressing and heating treatment of an aqueous solution of a protein at ≥70 to <127°C and ≥0.1 to <1 MPa, and a step of cooling the treated material. The gel-like solid obtained by the production method can be used as, e.g. a biomass plastic having biodegradability or a material therefor because the gel-like solid is derived from the protein.
