Disclosed is a method for producing a plastic lens, in which the cleaning time after surface modification can be shortened by performing surface modification without use of abrasives in keeping firm stick of a hard coat layer to be formed on the surface of a plastic lens. The method for producing a plastic lens includes a step (S1) of brushing the surface of a plastic lens substrate by using a wiping-off material, and a step (S4) of forming a hard coat layer on the brushed surface of the plastic lens by wet surface treatment. The wiping-off material is constituted of a material having flexibility and being harder than the surface material of the lens substrate, or a hard material fixed onto a base material having flexibility.
