LIGHT SIGNAL REPRODUCING METHOD AND APPARATUS, NRZ TO RZ CONVERTING APPARATUS, AND CLOCK REPRODUCING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light signal reproducing method and apparatus capable of optically reproducing NRZ signal light with a simple configuration, an NRZ-to-RZ converting apparatus, and a clock reproducing apparatus.

SOLUTION: An optical filter 12 removes one sideband component from input NRZ signal light (10) of a prescribed bit rate (B). An electric absorption type optical modulator 14 converts signal light output from the optical filter 12 to RZ signal light and outputs an electric clock from a power splitter 20. A light pulse generator 24 generates photonic clock pulses according to the electric clock. A semiconductor optical amplifier 30 gates the photonic clock pulses according to RZ signal light output from the electric absorption type optical modulator 14 and outputs reproduced RZ signal light. An optical band-pass filter 32 extracts the reproduced RZ signal light. A double refraction medium 34 and a polarizer 36 convert the reproduced RZ signal light to NRZ signal light.
