PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a clarity evaluation apparatus capable of easily and securely evaluating the clarity of the skin. SOLUTION: The clarity evaluation apparatus 1 easily and securely determines the clarity of the skin by using the image of the skin captured from a subject. (1) The clarity evaluation apparatus 1 uses an area computing image and a luminance distribution computing image as images of the skin captured from the subject. The clarity evaluation apparatus 1 uses relatively slow shutter speed when the area computing image is captured, and uses relatively quick shutter speed when the luminance distribution computing image is captured. (2) The clarity evaluation apparatus 1 computes the point-spread area based on the area computing image, and computes a cross-sectional profile of the luminance distribution based on the luminance distribution computing image.
