摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a perpendicular magnetic recording medium having enhanced corrosion resistance and satisfactory electromagnetic transducing characteristics by reducing elution of Co without providing constraints on constitution of a protective layer, such as the thickness of the protective layer, a film-deposition process, layer constitution or the like in the perpendicular magnetic recording medium having a soft magnetic backing layer. <P>SOLUTION: In the perpendicular magnetic recording medium having a non-magnetic substrate, at least a soft magnetic layer on the non-magnetic substrate, a seed layer on the soft magnetic layer, an intermediate layer on the seed layer, a magnetic layer on the intermediate layer and a protective layer on the magnetic layer, the seed layer is composed of a crystalline alloy having an fcc structure or an hcp structure, a corrosion preventing layer is provided between the seed layer and the intermediate layer and the corrosion preventing layer includes an element Cr and at least one element selected from Ni, W, Mo, Nb, Ta or Ti and has≤40 at% sum total component other than Cr. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p>
