PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine movement of an imaging object around a vehicle based on the position of the object only by using a motion-stereo system. SOLUTION: An object detection device for vehicles is mounted on the vehicle, and includes: an imaging unit 1 for capturing a circumferential image; a distance calculation unit 10 for calculating the position of an object around the vehicle based on an image captured by the imaging unit 1 by determining a change of the angle formed by the traveling direction of the vehicle and the direction to the object viewed from the vehicle as a change of a positional relationship between the vehicle and the object in the image, and using the motion-stereo system can calculate the position of the object based on the angle change; and a moving object determination unit 6 for determining whether the object is a moving object or not based on positional changes of the same object calculated by the distance calculation unit 10 when the vehicle runs at different speeds.
