PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve workability of setting a fabric and maintaining components without avoiding a safety measure of a sewing machine. SOLUTION: A presser device 1 for the sewing machine includes: a slide 10 to be freely movable along the upper surface of a sewing machine bed 2 with a sewing machine arm 3 raised therein; a presser arm 20 arranged in the slide so as to be freely elevating/lowering; a presser 30 which arranged in the presser arm 20 and presses a fabric to be processed from the upper part by lowering of the presser arm; and a driving device for elevating/lowering the presser arm so as to allow the presser to be elevated/lowered between a standby position saving from the fabric to be processed and a holding position holding the fabric to be processed, wherein a feeding cover 60 which arranged on the upper surface of the slide and formed so as to be overlapped with the sewing machine arm under the sewing machine arm even when the slide is moved to any position within a mobile range, is included.
