摘要 The invention relates to a composite material based on transition metal borides from subgroups IV to VI of the periodic system and a metallic binding phase. Said composite material is characterized in that the metallic binding phase is composed of copper and at least one auxiliary metal which can be partially or completely dissolved in the copper phase and in that the composite material has a density of at least 97 percent of the theoretical density. The invention also relates to a method for producing such a composite material, comprising the following steps: a powdered transition metal boride and at least one powdered auxiliary metal are mixed while optionally adding organic binders and auxiliary pressing agents either i) in a dry form for producing a homogeneous powder mixture or ii) in the presence of a liquid suspending medium for producing a homogeneous powder suspension; b) if a powder suspension is produced, a powder granulate is produced from the powder suspension; c) the powder mixture obtained in step a) or the powder granulate obtained in step b) is compressed to obtain a green compact; d) the obtained green compact is sintered without applying pressure in a vacuum or in protective gas at a temperature ranging from 1050 to 1750°C, preferably 1550 to 1650°C; and e) the obtained sintered part is infiltrated with molten copper. The composite material according to the invention is suitable as a wear-resistant material for uses requiring high heat conductivity, good resistance to thermal shocks, and high electric conductivity.
