PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water penetration preventing structure for bonded substrate, capable of performing thinning processing to two bonded substrates within an etching tank without damaging a liquid crystal display element. SOLUTION: In the water penetration preventing structure for two bonded substrates obtained by bonding two substrates, a chemical admission path having a length of the total value (W+H) of the width W and height H of the two bonded substrates is provided on an outer circumferential part of the two bonded substrates. Preferably, the chemical admission path is formed of one or two or more seals, and arranged in a mazy manner on the outer circumferential part of the two bonded substrates.
