PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewing machine suppressing thread cutting defects. SOLUTION: The sewing machine includes: a swing mechanism 110 for swinging needle bars 13 and 14 holding sewing needles 11 and 12; a feed mechanism 200 for feeding a feed dog 201 having needle holes 201a and 201b into which the sewing needles are to be inserted in synchronism with the swing of the needle bars; a feed amount adjusting mechanism 250 for adjusting the feed operation amount of the feed mechanism; horizontally rotating shuttles 101 and 102 disposed below the feed dog; and knife mechanism 50 provided with movable knives 151 and 152 which perform forward and backward reciprocating operations below the feed dog. The knife mechanism has: drive sources 51 and 52 different from a sewing machine motor 1 for performing the forward and backward reciprocating operations of the movable knives; and an operation control means 70 for controlling the operation timing of the drive sources of the movable knives.
