PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device which mounts an optical band-pass filter in an optical wavelength dividing and multiplexing system and changes a center wavelength and a band width of the optical band-pass filter according to an optical wavelength band to be transmitted, and to provide a control method.

SOLUTION: The optical wavelength multiplexing device 100 includes: a CPL (multiplexing portion) 3 which multiplexes optical signals and outputs the multiplexed optical signals; a BPF (optical band-pass filter) 9 which can change the center frequency and the band width, and inputs an optical signal outputted from the CPL 3; a storage portion which stores wavelength-band control information 4 which specifies the center wavelength and the band width; and a control circuit 10 which controls the center frequency and the band width of the BPF 9 based on the wavelength-band control information 4. The control circuit 10 controls the center frequency and the band width of the BPF 9 based on the wavelength-band control information 4.
