PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rope groove machining device for a grooved pulley capable of forming a rope groove solely by a removing process without any additional process and performing machining and repairing work of the rope groove in a short period of time without removing a rope, and a rope groove machining method for the grooved pulley. SOLUTION: The rope groove machining device is composed of: a machining device for machining the rope groove by rotating a grinding wheel 11 within the rope groove of the grooved pulley 1; a radially movable device 34 supporting the machining device so that the machining device is movable in the radial direction of the grooved pulley 1; a temperature measuring device 20 measuring the temperature of the grinding wheel 11; a temperature-gradient computing unit 23 computing the temperature gradient from the measured value of the temperature measuring device 20; a load measuring instrument 22 measuring a grinding load of the machining device; and an arithmetic unit 25 setting a cutting feed amount of the machining device based on the temperature of the grinding wheel 11, the temperature gradient, and the grinding load.
