The method involves activating illuminating devices i.e. brake lights (3.1-3.3) or headlight, of a motor vehicle (1) additional to a warning light (2). Fog light and/or day time running lights and/or dipped headlight provided as the headlight are activated. The illuminating devices and the warning lights are switched on and switched off at equal pulse frequency, in phase and in a phase shifted manner. A dangerous situation for the motor vehicle is indicated by the warning lights of a warning light arrangement of the motor vehicle.
