Provided is a video splitting device capable of properly splitting video data into topics according to the semantic content. The video splitting device is provided with a subject judging section for referencing text which is associated with a video and in which a reproduction position in the video is given and judging whether or not words or word strings (hereinafter, refer to as "words or the like") included in the text represents a subject included in the video, a subject weighting section for weighting a word or the like judged to represent the subject out of the words or the like more heavily than the others, and a video splitting section for splitting the video by splitting the text on the basis of the weight.
