<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plate-like nickel hydroxide powder as a positive pole active substance used for a sheet-type electrode for a nickel-hydrogen battery material, which has higher filling property and from which a battery having high capacity can be obtained and to provide a production method of the same. <P>SOLUTION: The plate-like nickel hydroxide powder is characterized in that the particle diameters in a plane direction are 3-20 μm, the specific surface area is 50-150 m<SP>2</SP>/g, and particles are composed of primary particles. The production method of the powder comprises suspending nickel hydroxide in an aqueous solution containing an alkali metal hydroxide in a molar amount equivalent to or higher than that of the nickel hydroxide and then agitating the resulting suspension while keeping the temperature of the aqueous solution in a range of 90-190°C. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
