PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition timing control device for an internal combustion engine capable of accurately controlling ignition timing. SOLUTION: An engine ECU executes a program including steps of: calculating a knock strength N by dividing an integrated value lpkknk obtained by integrating magnitude of vibration in knock detection gate by BGL; controlling ignition timing according to a result of comparison between knock strength N and a determination value VJ; stopping updating of a standard deviationσwhen it is determined that determination value VJ to be compared with knock strength N is to be changed (S202); updating a median value VM by increasing an update amount of median value VM (S204); and updating BGL according to median value VM and standard deviationσ(S206).
