PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set a gain which corresponds to the situation of variations in radio the transmission line characteristics. SOLUTION: An amplification section 12 amplifies a received signal with a predetermined gain. An AGC-setting section 18 sets the gain in the amplification section 12 so that a level of the signal amplified in the amplification section 12 becomes close to a target value. The AGC-setting section 18 infers the degree of variation in the level of the received signal; and as the inferred degree of variation becomes greater, the target value is adjusted to be smaller. Furthermore, as the measured degree of variation becomes greater, the AGC-setting section 18 further delays updating of the gain. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
