PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage device capable of improving the handleability of a user. SOLUTION: The storage device 3 which has a first volume for storing data transmitted from a host device 2 and performs the backup of the first volume includes a control part for performing control so as to prepare a second volume which is the backup volume of the first volume when receiving an instruction to back up the first volume from the host device 2 and to transmit the completion response of the backup instruction to the host device while the format of the second volume and the copy from the first volume to the second volume are incomplete.
