PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable apparatus which excels in shock resistance against dropping or the like and which does not become a hindrance in miniaturization. SOLUTION: An apparatus housing 20 includes a front cover 1 in rectangular parallelepiped shape having a rectangular opening 1a formed by opening one surface of a hexahedron, a reinforcing plate 6 arranged near the rectangular opening 1a so as to be laid over from one side to the other of a pair of long sides of the rectangular opening 1a nearly in the center of the pair of long sides, and a rear cover 2 covering the opening 1a and covering the reinforcing plate 6 by forming the housing with the front cover 1. If the apparatus housing 20 is dropped upside or downside down, a main part of the front cover 1 is prevented from being damaged, because the reinforcing plate 6 acts to prevent deformation caused by shock at the long side parts of the front cover 1.
