PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drying apparatus for drying organic material such as food residue and vegetable waste at high speed and crushing the same, efficiently performing drying at high speed, decreasing an installation space, facilitating manufacture, lowering the manufacturing cost, and having excellent maintainability. SOLUTION: This drying apparatus includes: a hopper for transferring material to be treated to a take-out port; a drying cylindrical part 8 formed extending from the upside to the lower side to meander two or more times and forming a drying passage 9 for the material to be treated by alternately connecting the respective cylindrical bodies forming an ascending passage and a descending passage for the material to be treated through an upper bent cylinder and a lower bent cylinder; a crushing plate 34 formed to project from the top of the drying passage 9 of the upper bent cylinder; a blower disposed at the starting end of the drying cylindrical part 8 to carry the material to be heated together with the air flow heated by a heater to the terminal part of the drying passage 9; and a granular separating machine 12 provided at the terminal part of the drying cylindrical part 8 to separate the material to be treated discharged from the terminal part from the air containing water vapor.
