The arrangement has a control unit (10) for controlling an electric motor (12) of a safety belt retractor. Another control unit outputs instructions in the form of coded pulse-width-modulated trigger signals to the former control unit. The former control unit receives and decodes the pulse-width-modulated trigger signals. The latter control unit is provided as a part of a microcontroller (18) i.e. electronic stability control (ESC)-controller, outside the electrical safety belt retractor. The control units are connected with each other by a single-wire line. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling an electrical safety belt retractor in a vehicle with the help of a circuit arrangement.
