ARRANGEMENT AND METHOD FOR PREVENTION OF DISCOMFORT OR HEALTH IMPAIRMENT OF PERSONS CARRYING ON A SEDENTARY OCCUPATION, ESPECIALLY COMPUTER OPERATORS

An arrangement and a method for prevention of discomfort or health impairment of persons carrying on a sedentary occupation, especially computer operators, said arrangement comprising means for monitoring or administering what is regarded as the continuous use of the instrument of labour used during the sedentary occupation; means for promoting and administering physical activity, especially physical exercise, a preferably settable scheduling means; processing and control means connected to the device administering or measuring the time of use and to the scheduling means; display means in connection with the control means which gives warning to suspend work and start the active rest period. In an preferred version of the arrangement, the control device is connected to the device promoting physical exercise; the device promoting physical exercise or a sensor unit associated with it is designed as signal emitter unit or sensor unit of the control device emitting a control signal for the control device by the occurrence of at least one specific or adjustable parameter; the control device is designed as a control device authorising the further use of the implement in response to a signal received from the said signal emitter device or sensor unit. The new method proposes setting a limit value for the period of time implying general malaise or health injury; monitoring or measuring what is considered the continuous use of the instrument of labour of the sedentary occupation; upon reaching the preset limit value, blocking further operation of the instrument of labour, and, in a novel manner, monitoring and storing the signals generated through the use of the physical trainer device associated with the instrument of labour; comparing the stored signal value to a predefined limit value, and if the result of the comparison is positive, that is, the received and the stored signal values attain or exceed the limit value, releasing the blocking of the further operation of the instrument of labour.
