<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing pet food suitable for feeding a pet such as a dog or a cat which can be stored at normal temperature for a long time, through having a high water content, and has a proper flexibility and an excellent food feeling. <P>SOLUTION: Provided is the method for producing pet food includes immersing raw chicken in a preserving liquid containing at least vinegar, sodium bicarbonate, and a powder of meteoric stone which is a far-infrared radiating substance, and then subjecting the resultant to drying treatment. The produced pet food suppresses degradation such as surface blackening, putrefaction by a compound action of vinegar, sodium bicarbonate, and the powder of meteoric stone which are contained in the preserving liquid, although the dried raw chicken has a high water content, and has original flexibility of raw chicken with reduced irritating smell of vinegar, and pets such as dogs or cats favorably take the food.
