<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for measuring cardiac output of patient in general. <P>SOLUTION: The invention relates to a device (21) to measure the cardiac output of the patient heart and is provided with a control and display module (22). The vein probe is inserted into a vein in the forearm part of the patient, and is connected to the control and display module (22). The vein probe gives the electronic signal that is equivalent to oxygen dissolving in venous blood. The artery probe (23) is inserted into an artery in an forearm part (26) of the patient, and is connected to the control and display module (22). The artery probe gives the electronic signal that is equivalent to oxygen dissolving in arterial blood. The control and display module (22) is provided with a display unit (102) which is capable of visual recognition, and utilizes an equation for the oxygen difference between artery and vein to give the cardiac output in the living body continually. The equation includes an adjusting coefficient for sampled venous blood, rather than adjustment for venous blood which is mixed with pulmonary artery blood of the patient. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
