摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spark ignition type engine performing operation continuously even when a crank angle sensor fails. SOLUTION: The spark ignition type engine is configured so that a controlling means starts 3a the fuel injection from an injector 3 and performs spark discharge 29a at an ignition plug, when the crank angle of a crankshaft sensed by a crank angle sensor becomes the prescribed fuel injection angle and the prescribed ignition angle. When the crank angle sensor fails, the occurrence of failure is sensed by the controlling means, on the basis of the peak 43 of the suction pressure 42 sensed by a suction pressure sensor, the controlling means starts 3a fuel injection from the injector in which the time of the peak 43 of the suction pressure 42 being sensed or the prescribed delay time being elapsed from the time of sensing is used as the time to start the fuel injection and the time to perform ignition, and also conducts the spark discharge 29a at the ignition plug.
