PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition device surely performing ignition, using a simple constitution. SOLUTION: The ignition device for an internal combustion engine is constituted of a high-voltage power supply, and an ignition coil performing igniting action, capable of igniting in the internal combustion engine at an ignition timing by generating an ignition signal from an ECU. At ignition timing, ignition action is performed based on both starting and stopping ignition signals, and the signal interval between the starting and stopping ignition signals is varied by the output energy required in performing ignition action.
